  17.     DCISVGA.DRV and DCIMAN.DLL are part of Microsoft's 
  18.     Video for Windows 1.1D distribution, and are
  19.     redistributed without royalty under the terms of
  20.     the VFW binary distribution license agreement.

  22. Introduction:
  23.     
  24.     DCI capability is able to enhance video throughtput
  25.     performance for some video adapters.
  26.  
  27.     DCISVGA.DRV provides basic DCI primary surface support
  28.     for several popular SVGA graphics chips/cards.
  29.     The following graphics chips/cards are supported by DCISVGA.DRV:

  31.                 TSENG ET4000
  32.                 Video Seven HT208, HT209
  33.                 Video Seven VRAM
  34.                 Cirrus GD5424, GD5426, GD5428
  35.                 ATI Wonder
  36.                 Western Digital 90C30, 90C31

  38.                 ATI 68800
  39.                 older cards from Oak, and Trident

  41.     If you have one of the above graphics chips/cards,
  42.     you may try  using DCISVGA.DRV as the DCI primary surface provider.

  44.     If you do not have one of the above graphics chips/cards, please 
  45.     do not use DCISVGA.DRV; instead, please contact your graphics 
  46.     vendor for a DCI provider that is appropriate to your chip/card.

  48. Installation:

  50.     The SETUP program for StreamWorks (tm) will install the two DCI
  51.     files if your system has no DCI drivers previously installed.
  52.     As an alternative, and for purposes of your understanding of
  53.     the DCI installation, the section "Manual Installation" is provided.

  55. Manual Installation:
  56.  
  57.     DCISVGA.DRV and DCIMAN.DLL should be copied into
  58.     the \windows\system subdirectory, and SYSTEM.INI
  59.     should be edited in the [drivers] section to
  60.     add the line:

  62.     DCI=DCISVGA.DRV
  63.  
  64.     We have successfully tested this DCI driver under
  65.     Win 3.11 and WFW when using the default SVGA 256-color
  66.     drivers.  We don't know how it will work in other 
  67.     configurations.  If you modify XMPLAYER.INI to support
  68.     DCI, and you see no video during playback, WNETVIEW's
  69.     probably not compatible with DCISVGA on your system.

  71.     There are DCI drivers available from various VGA card
  72.     manfacturers which will signficantly enhance the 
  73.     performance and quality of software MPEG playback -
  74.     please check with your VGA manufacturer for availability.
